What happens to older dogs, who cannot keep up anymore?

Well, I suspect that everything that you say in YOUR post is untrue. First, if you are from the north, you should do some research on how to properly care for an Alaskan Racing Husky. You can think of them like you would think of your regular house pet, as they have the same emotional, physical, and psychological needs as any other dog. The fact that you are trying to split hairs on this issue, by trying to create a separate category for these dogs is disturbing in itself.

Maybe you should spend some quality time with these dogs, but then according to you they don't need it. The fact that these dogs appear bony and frightened, with the owners 'in complete denial about their condition' sends up red flags for me. Yeah some days I don't feel like making dinner, then I eat out. Somedays, I don't feel like going to work, then I may take a day off. The fact is the comparison here is unfair, I clearly have alternatives, which these poor dogs don't.

Let me ask you a question...what happens to older dogs, who cannot keep up anymore? Taken, behind the barn and shot? Left on the end of a chain to starve to death? But then again they probably won't feel much as they are SO different from other dogs.
